Final Project Image

The Final Project

For the final project, I started with this graphic for the background.

First, I removed everything but the main logo. I then turned the inside part transparent. This allowed me to put the pics I would use for the collage inside of it and not have to form the shape of the logo.

I then choose pics to fill the inside of the letters. The pics are used were of the city sky line and various buildings.

For the inside of the main logo, I used pics of players like this one.

Finally, after hours of work, the collage is almost complete.

I then took the inside of the Bull face and created a separate layer.

I then blend this layer with the main image and added a bevel and emboss effect. The final result is the picture below.
(since I converted it into a jpeg it loses some of the effect)

The final project meets the my proposal because I created a collage of images to create the Bulls logo. I only used pics of the city of Chicago for the lettering (except for Benny the Bull flying in the letter B because I thought it looked cool). Pics of players were used to fill the inside of the logo.
The image is a high resolution raster graphic.

I think it would look best as a standard size sticker (I think 4x4) or possibly a small poster. I only used Adobe photoshop to edit every pic and create layers. There are probably around 40 layers I used in the final project.

The main tools I used in photoshop were, magic wand, quick selection and selection. I used these tools to crop the pics into the shapes that would fit together. I also used pics that matched the color scheme of the Bull logo. The horns are red so I chose a red pic for both horns. I also used lighter pics for the white parts of the horn.

Overall, I enjoyed creating the collage. It was a lot more difficult and more work than I thought it would be. The results were well worth it. The logo not only represents the team, but also the city of Chicago.

Adobe After Effects

This skateboarding video was edited with Above After Effects. The camera angles, blue streak effects, and slow motion effect, all make the video look amazing. I really like how the back ground was made to look like outer space.

Egyptian Artifacts

I've always been drawn to Egyptian art. I think it is amazing the amount of detail and time that was devoted to completing projects like the one above. To think that artists spent all their life designing and creating teams for tombs, that no one was suppose to see.

Here is an article with a great slide show. The pics are from the items inside of the Egyptian museum. Right now the museum is empty as tourist stay away from it because of the protests going on.

"The Bean"

Here is a great article describing the first time experience seeing "The Bean" in Chicago's Millennium Park. Artist Anish Kapoor designed this sculpture titled "Cloud Gate." It became known as "The Bean" because of it's bean like appearance.

I've visited Millennium Park many times and walking under and around "The Bean" is a very cool experience. Next time you're visiting Chicago I would recommend you check it out!

Final Project Progress

This is the image I am using for the shape of collage I am creating. I am using the various pictures to fill the inside of the Bulls logo and the words Chicago Bulls.

For the lettering, I am using pics of the city like this pic from navy pier (taken from my phone last month).

For the inside of the logo, I will be using pics of current and former Bulls players like the one below.

Should the Twin Towers be rebuilt?

In 2005, Trump proposed rebuilding the Twin Towers and came up with a mock of how it would look. He kept the overall look of the towers and improved on the design. The new Twin Towers would  be 100 feet taller and strong enough to withstand terrorist attacks that brought down original Twin Towers. This proposed project did not happen as a memorial was build in the spot where the Twin Towers once stood.

iMac

Apple is constantly improving the design of their products. Looking at the picture below, it is interesting to see the changes from 1998 to 2009. In 1998, the iMac was a bulky tube computer, but at the time it was most compact computer. Compare this computer also released in 1998 to the iMac.

As you can see not only is the design just plain ugly it is also very big and blocky looking.
Apple offered the iMac in various colors making their computers more visually appealing as it complemented the sleek design.

Spiderman over the past 50 years

Many people only think of Spiderman as the character in the movies. In comics, Spiderman has worn many different costumes. Also, every artist who draws spiderman will add their own touch to the overall appearance of Spiderman. Here is a great picture showing all of the costumes Spiderman has worn over the past 50 years. Which one is your favorite?

Next Gen vs Current Gen Graphics

The new console wars have begun! The Next Generation consoles, PS4 and Xbox One are showing an impressive upgrade in graphics compared to the current Gen consoles(PS3, Xbox 360).
I'm a huge Battlefield fan and as you can see the pics on the right show more details and better shading. The NBA game really shows what the Next Gens are capable of doing. The variety of line weights are very impressive.

Ipad air

I found the commercial for the new Ipad air to very very interesting. Comparing the thickness of the Ipad to a pencil is a great marketing idea. This allows you to see how thin Apple designed it.

Final Project Proposal

Final Project Proposal

For my final project, I will create a photo collage of images layered to create a profession sports team logo. the logo I have chosen is the Chicago Bulls. I am using pics of current and former players on the team for the main Bull logo. Images related to the city the team represents will be used in the words Chicago Bulls. I will use Photoshop to crop images into the logo. I want to explore and experiment with different elements to create an image that will be a raster graphic in the shape of the original logo.I want a person familiar with basketball to be able to see the logo from far away and instantly recognize it. I believe I can accomplish this with the right combination of images. My collage logo will be the size of a standard sticker.

New NFL teams

There has been discussion as of late that the NFL will expand again. They will have 2 new teams one in Los Angeles and another in London. Here is an interesting pic of how the LA stadium will look like.

The design reminds me of a football. I would consider adding a dome. I think it would be a great idea to have a team in LA but I don't agree with having one over seas.

My "Memories in the Making" Logo

This is the final logo. I stuck with the light bulb as a representation of memory.
I incorporated my design into there current logo. I wanted the logo to look more corporate and simple as there logo currently is. All colors and font used are in the guidelines. I used the pen tool, shapes, various line weights, and Text path.

Let's see how it goes in the critique next week!

Midterm project 4 of 4 entires

I tried to incorporated the Alzheimer's Association logo in the middle of the bulb. I made adjustments to the wording and is a lot more readable. I used offset paths for the everything and changed the line style for the large oval.

I asked a couple other people for their opinions and they didn't think the comic theme would fit for this project. So my dreams were shattered and I decided to leave this idea behind.

After spending time sketching more ideas, I decided I would go the direction of something more basic.

Midterm project 3 of 4 entires

Ok so for the next concept my inspiration was comic books. I was up late one night after watching the Walking Dead and saw an episode of Comic Book Men. Great show for all comic book lovers as myself. I didn't want to sketch this concept so I free handed it.

I really was drawn to having a light bulb since I think it represents memory. I also wanted to use a thinking type box as used in comics when the illustrator wants you to know what the hero/villain is thinking. I liked the look and worked on it for hours on end. Which led to making final modifications and hopefully the final logo.

Midterm project 2 of 4 entires

Moving on to the next concept, I thought this would be "the one." I wanted to keep the logo basic as after reading the guidelines it seems they wanted something simple. I started to add color and replaced the O with a lightbulb. After many failed attempts of trying to make a letter S with the pen tool I started to hate the direction I was heading to with this concept so decided to erase it from my mind.

And on to the next..

Midterm project 1 of 4 entires

After the sketches I started using the pen tool in AI and this is what I did...

Yup pretty bad....so one idea was using a cursive type of font with some butterfly wings on the M. I scrapped the idea as I just didn't like the progress

Vector Logos after feedback

I took all the feedback, threw it in a blender and came up with this!

Logos

A popular subject in sports currently is changing NFL's Washington Redskins name.
This is the current logo:

99designs.com had a contest for the best new name/logo. Here is the winner!

I like this one more:

The color scheme is better and I like the W and S in Warriors.

Concept sketches for Aizheimers Logo

I had some rough ideas on the direction I might go with the AA logo we are working on. I kind of like the lower right one the most.

Iron Man suit for the Military

TALOS (Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit) is currently under development and is considered the future of body armor for soldiers. This suit will enhance physical abilities, monitor vitals, offer better protection and incorporate a night vision computer in the helmet. Similar to google glass, the eye piece will allow the soldier to see the enemy on the battlefield.

The design looks great and I find it cool how a fictional comic book character like Iron Man, can inspire the military to design a similar suit.

Initials Logo: Vector Iterations

Original

Contour Lines/weight

Effects

Masked

3 Colors

These are my final 4 versions. Colors has a beach theme. With the Mask version I tried to make it look like a wall. I used the shape tool to make stars, rectangles and polygons. I also used the paintbrush tool to draw random lines. With effects version I used stained glass, glowing edges, and a gradient effect. Overall it was fun making the 4 versions and they all look unique from one another.

PS4

The November 15th release date is approaching and the highly anticipated PS4 is suppose to be the next greatest thing in gaming. The most talked about specs is the 8 core processors and the 500GB hard drive the PS4 will have.

Overall I really like the design of the console and can't wait to play some of the new games like Destiny and BF4 on the PS4.

Initials

These are the initials I chose to do in a larger scale.
Below are my Concepts for my initials. I decided to go more the route of a logo.
